“The Anatomy of an Acquisition” Presented at Ohio BFA

Davis Marketing Group/GraybeardsRus Team Present “The Anatomy of an Acquisition” at Ohio Burlgar & Fire Association Meeting

May 2, 2007 – Four members of the Davis Marketing Group/GraybeardsRus team presented the panel discussion “The Anatomy of an Acquisition” on Wednesday, May 2 in Columbus , Ohio at the annual conference of the Ohio Burglar & Fire Association.
Ron Davis, managing partner of DMG/GRU, moderated the presentation and explained the role of a business “broker” or “finder” in the transaction to buy or sell a security company. Marc Katz, a well known industry attorney based in Indianapolis , IN , explored the contributions made by lawyers on both the buy and sell side of the transaction. Katz consults with a number of DMG’s clients on their legal issues.
To cover the dealer’s side of the process, two former alarm company owners who had recently sold their respective companies told of their experiences in preparing their company to sell it and then what happened before, during and after the transaction.
Katie Maahs-Bally, former owner of North Shore Security in Evanston, Illinois, and Bruce Amrine, former owner of AA Alarms in Ann Arbor, Michigan, discussed what each of them went through during the acquisition procedures, including both the problems AND the positives!
Maahs-Bally and Amrine now are members of the DMG team and work exclusively with owners of alarm companies who are exploring their opportunities in either buying or selling other security companies.
Nearly 150 members of the association attended the conference.
