First Alarm Acquires Pierson Security Systems of Monterey

May 10, 2005, Long Grove, IL — First Alarm, headed up by Jarl Saal, acquired the stock of Pierson Security Systems of Monterey, CA. First Alarm, headquartered in Aptos, is considered one of the major regional players in Northern California. Pierson Security, with several thousand accounts, was considered a natural expansion for the company.

Audrey Pierson, CEO of Pierson Security, had this to say about the acquisition: “We’ve known Jarl for years, and felt that this was the right move for us, at the right
time and under the right circumstances.”

Jarl Saal, President of First Alarm, commenting on the acquisition had this to say: “Pierson Security represented the finest in quality operations. Bringing the Pierson Security team over to First Alarm is a major opportunity for us, and one that we were not going to let slip by.”

The transaction closed on Friday, May 6, 2005. The
seller was represented by Davis Marketing Group’s Managing Partner, Ron Davis, who negotiated the transaction. While the multiple has not been disclosed, it has been considered to be relatively high in today’s market, representing a continuing interest on the part of buyers in acquiring quality companies.
