F. E. Moran, Inc. Alarm and Monitoring Services Completes Its First Acquisition in Michigan
Long Grove, IL, April 13, 2006 — In a continuation of their rapid expansion, F.E. Moran, Inc. Alarm and Monitoring Services has just completed its first acquisition in the metropolitan Detroit area. The acquisition of Grosse Pointe Alarm, Inc., a Michigan corporation, was concluded on April 13, 2006.
Grosse Pointe Alarm, a strong player in the Detroit marketplace, has over 6,600 accounts, and 28 employees, all of whom will remain with the company. Founders and former owners, Tom Stong and Bob Barnes, will both be retiring.
In commenting on the acquisition, Moran president, Brett Bean, had this to say: “We are thrilled to have joined forces with Grosse Pointe Alarm, a high quality security company with a strong local presence and quality base of accounts. We are committed to the Michigan marketplace and hope to make our presence felt in both a quality manner and with a strong contribution to the community. We anticipate that general manager, Don Guinn, and Mike Stong (son of founder, Tom Stong) will remain on board and help us continue to grow both the company and its customer base. There are no plans to move the company, in fact we have signed a lease to remain in the same facilities.
Grosse Pointe Alarms has been in business for 25 years, and the mix of accounts is 20% commercial and 80% residential. The company’s existing central station will continue to operate as before. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Representing the seller was Ron Davis, Managing Partner of Davis Marketing Group (aka The Graybeards). This is the fourth acquisition made by Moran in which Davis has represented the seller. In commenting on this, Ron had this to say: “F.E. Moran represents one of the exciting new players in the alarm industry, and will soon take its place among the small group of premier regional alarm companies in the United States. We are pleased that we’ve been able to assist in their growth by presenting them with quality candidates such as Grosse Pointe.”

“Bravo for a job well done!”
Hi, Ron,
Someone needs to pinch me, I don’t feel retired yet.
Perhaps it was your hard work, and staying with the seller and the buyer all these weeks, that made the transaction go so smooth. Bob and I thank you for helping us through a time that was a little emotional (handing over your baby G.P.A.) from time to time.
I’m surprised at how I feel right now. Im very calm and feel satisfied that all my employees are being looked after. We are both positive that if you ahd not entred the picture to help us sell, we would still be working today. At times it felt like you were working for the buyer; but that was good thing. I could see they felt comfortable with you and trusted your direction. Bravo for a job well done!
PS. You’re still a sales rep to me — but an icon at that.
Your new friend,
Tom Stong, Ex-President of Grosse Pointe Alarm
